On the 14th of June 1941 the pilot of this aircraft was delivering the aircraft to Usworth to be used by 55 OTU, he collected the aircraft for Wittering and headed north. During the flight the weather made a turn for the worst, the pilots inexperience on the type probably resulted in the aircraft drifting too far west in the wind. The aircraft crashed into Redshaw Moss, not far from the Hawes to Ingleton road. Sadly the pilot was killed.
Pilot - Sgt Donald F Henderson RCAF (R/62360), aged 21, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Buried Leeming Churchyard, Yorkshire.
The pilot had gained his Wings on 25th March 1941 and had trained in Canada.
