Oxford near Brimham Rocks.

On the 14th of August 1942 the pilot of this aircraft was flying solo on cross-country training flight when he became lost and on running low on fuel opted to force-land the aircraft at 18.40hrs near Brimham Rocks. The aircraft was only slightly damaged when it overshot the field and the undercarriage collapsed when it ran into a hedge. It was later dismantled and removed from the site and rebuilt. It is believed to have flown again.

Pilot - LAC Franciszek Olkiewicz PAF (P781146), ok.

I have yet to locate the crash site.

F/Sgt Olkiewicz PAF was sadly killed on 6th January 1944 whilst flying with 1586 Polish Special Operations Flight. Liberator BZ949 with eight crew iced up on Ops to Poland and whilst attempting a force landing near Villa Castell the aircraft flew into high ground at Grotaglia, Italy killing all crew.
