On an unknown date in 1944 Brian Rapier credits an unknown Lancaster as crashing on Scales Moor, Whernside. No other reference to this has been found in official sources and therefore it is assumed that a local informed him of it occuring. Given the terrain it is unlikely to have been a forced landing but could be an incorrect reference to one of the other two aircraft which crashed on Whernside in the War.
