On the 25th of January 1940 this aircraft was one of four aircraft being ferried from RAF Silloth to RNAS Ford where it was to go into storage. It crashed into high ground at Heydon Head, towards the northern edge of the Peak District. The aircraft was found some time later, the pilot was killed in the crash.
Pilot - Sub Lt Gerald Vyvian Williamson RNVR, aged ? Of Menston, Yorkshire. Buried Greenhill Methodist Chapelyard (Old Part), Yorkshire.
Alan Clark's "Peak District Aircraft Crashes" website and David Earls book and website detail this incident and I do not wish to "tred on his toes", so to speak.
I visited the site January 2007, a small memorial has been erected at the site.
