On the 18th of July 1939 the pilot of this aircraft was flying from Catterick up to Kingstown near Carlisle. The aircraft struck an area of high ground north of Appleby called Great Dun Fell killing the pilot instantly, workers at a nearby quarry are believed to have been the first on the seen having heard the crash, nothing could be done for the pilot sadly.
