On the 27th of June 1943 this crew were undertaking an operational training exercise, a night cross-country flight. They took off from Chipping Warden ar 23.25hrs on 26th June but during the flight the aircrafts port engine failed. The pilot attempted a forced landing, thought to have been on high ground in the region of Deer Gallow Rocks, Embsay, afew miles from Skipton at 01.15hrs. Sadly the pilot was killed in the resulting crash and the navigator injured. The names of the rest of the crew have yet to be researched.

Navigator - P/O Glyndwr M Roberts RAF (142376), (presumably) of Wales. Injured.
